Formula 1 Rising Star Lando Norris Expresses Concerns Over Safety Amidst Controversial Rule Changes

Reigning F1 champion Lando Norris has expressed his fear over one aspect of the new technical regulations.

Lando Norris expressed concerns about the dangerous closing speeds in Formula 1 races, which have put drivers at the “mercy” of their rivals.

Discussions are currently ongoing among the FIA, F1, and teams to address the issues raised in the first three races of the season, with qualifying being a major area of focus due to cars not running at full power all the time.

Qualifying during the Japanese Grand Prix received criticism because cars were not going at full speed into turns like 130R to conserve energy, leading to potentially risky situations on track.

Norris highlighted the challenges of driving unconventionally to manage energy deployment and the risks of being overtaken by competitors running at full power.

Despite some improvements, Norris emphasized the need for further enhancements in qualifying to allow drivers to push to their limits without constraints on power deployment.

He pointed out that other racing categories often have higher top speeds than F1 cars, indicating room for improvement and the expectation for the FIA to take action.

Norris emphasized the lack of control drivers feel in certain situations, such as the inability to re-engage the throttle after lifting off due to energy deployment restrictions, affecting the authenticity of the racing experience from a driver’s perspective.
